About Me

I am a Certified Professional Nanny, Newborn Care Specialist, and graduate of the former English Nanny and Governess School in Cleveland, Ohio. My areas of study included infant and child development and psychology; children’s literature, music, and art; safety training and defensive driving; nutrition and cooking; and many other areas of childcare. I have worked with children from newborn through their preteen years; and have experience with twins, sensory processing disorders, and severe food allergies. As a former competitive swimmer, swim coach, and lifeguard, I am very passionate about the importance of water safety for children and adults alike. I have co-presented at international nanny conferences; been a guest speaker on multiple podcasts, including Sittercity’s The Great Unicorn Search, Chronicles of Nannya, and Shenannygans; appeared in webinars with Ask The Nanny and the US Nanny Association; published articles for Nanny Magazine and other blogs; and I am a proud member of both the International and US Nanny Associations.

Mission

After working for families in a full-time capacity for over 10 years, I launched my business and website, Carrie The Nanny, in 2022; and now offer services including nanny mentoring and advising, interview preparation, resume updating, assistance and education for parents hiring a nanny, and baby registry recommendations. I feel like my experience, trainings, and now years as a mom, offer a unique and professional prospective that will benefits caregivers and parents alike.

Passions

As a retired competitive swimmer and former swim coach and lifeguard, I have always loved to work on building swimming skills with the children in my care. Since having very unexpected anxiety after having my own child, I have reignited a true passion for educating others about water safety awareness and on emphasizing the fact that drowning is preventable.

In 2022, I founded and continue to run the Circle City Nannies Instagram account and social nanny group in Indianapolis. By organizing play dates, nanny events, and local trainings, like the annual Nannypalooza interNational Nanny Training Day,  I'm striving to improve the local market standards and elevate the nannying and caregiving community as a whole.
